문성원은 홍익대학교 미술대학과 동대학원에서 금속조형디자인을 공부했고 인터렉티브 아트와 공예를 결합한 작업을 해오고 있다. 개인이나 사회가 생산, 소유하고 있는 추상적이고 비시각적인 정보들을 조형적으로 시각화하는 데이터 시각화 프로젝트를 기반으로 그 위에 공예기법을 활용한 여러 작업을 진행하고 있다.
